Jaws

Finally. A good movie gets to be reviewed. Jaws is a timeless classic that inspired dozens of poorly attempted knockoffs. Namely, all of the sequels to Jaws. This movie is really in a league of its own. Sure, it doesn’t have all the fancy animations or star-studded cast members that terrible movies of today have.. but it has something else entirely. Heart. Or something sappy like that. Jaws is a damn good movie though and is definitely worth watching.

Within 5 minutes of the movie, there is already some intense action and a some bad-ass harmonica playing. Jaws is responsible for every single fear of open water since the dawn of time. That is fact that I stand by. The line that you hear after some tv shows “That’s some bad hat, Harry.” originates from Jaws. That’s how inspirational this movie is. Jaws is ruthless in terms of violence.
A kid dies and the entire town decides they are going to take matters into their own hands by catching the shark. No one seems to realize that they are attempting to fight a 40 foot shark in the open ocean. Good luck. Jaws provides a unique amount of action that no other movie can provide. That amount of action is known as “constant”. You might be familiar with the term. In this context it means that there are no slow points in the movie. You will be on the edge of your seat for the entire time. You have to respect, and love, a movie that can do that. Jaws even inspired a ride at Universal Studios.

The characters are all extremely believable and you can’t help but cheer for them. Even if you secretly want the shark to win. Jaws is one of the greatest movies ever created in almost all categories. Maybe it doesn’t have a modern day look to it, but in a way, that’s sort of a good thing. I wanted to cry when they re-made Black Christmas. What a waste of a classic. Anywho, to wrap things up: Watch Jaws. You will be glad you did. Or you will wish you hadn’t. Either way, it’s a good movie.
